# How to set up smart locks

This guide shows you how to connect your smart locks, so Guestway can give each reservation its own door code.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Before you start**

* You have the **Super Admin** role, or a role with access to integrations.
* You have an account with your lock provider, with your locks in it.
  {% endhint %}

This step is optional. Skip it if you don't use smart locks.

## Connect your lock provider

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Choose your provider

Go to **Settings** → **Organization** → **Integrations** and click **Create**. Under **Smart Locks**, click your provider. In **Integration name**, keep the suggested name or enter your own.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect the account

Choose the way to connect that the wizard offers for your provider, enter what it asks for, and click **Authenticate**. Then click **Finish**. For example, for Nuki you create an API key in Nuki Web and paste it under **Access with API Key**.

What each provider asks for is in its full guide in the Academy:

* [How to connect Brivo](/integrations/smart-locks/how-to-connect-brivo.md)
* [How to connect KeyNest](/integrations/smart-locks/keynest.md)
* [How to connect Keycafe](/integrations/smart-locks/how-to-connect-keycafe.md)
* [How to connect Nuki](/integrations/smart-locks/nuki.md)
* [How to connect ProDataKey](/integrations/smart-locks/prodatakey.md)
* [How to connect Salto](/integrations/smart-locks/salto.md)
* [How to connect Schlage](/integrations/smart-locks/how-to-connect-schlage.md)
* [How to connect Yale](/integrations/smart-locks/yale.md)
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

## Link the locks to listings

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Choose the locks to use

Open the integration and its smart lock tab. Tick **Subscribed** for each lock you want to manage in Guestway.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Link each lock to its listing

Go to **Smart Locks**, open the lock, and link it to its listing or complex.

Once a lock is linked, its codes show on the **Access** tab of each reservation.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.guestway.io/guestway_onboarding/how-to-set-up-smart-locks.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
